From a tiny acorn grows a mighty oak.

Discovery School was founded on July 4th, 1975, as co-founders Margaret Black and Dr. Shirley Heck sought to create a space where students individual learning was paramount, desks were not the norm, and students learned from each other and the natural world around them.
Originally the home of the Golden Eagles, Discovery School started with just a handful of students all in one room, with multiple ages and grades together. These students made weekly plans with their teacher, and then worked throughout the week to meet those goals.
